Question for Readers on BDSM and Stories

Working on ENDANGERED and Separated Self, I realized that the books started out with obvious D/s when I brought in Livia and forced her onto Josef.  Not that she needed forcing, heh heh.

The thing I realized early on is that the plot encompassed the D/s dynamic but only briefly.  There were still villains who interrupted what would normally be a natural order of things, IF Josef would submit to his Vampire Queen and IF she weren’t…having issues of her own in the second full length novel.

I’ve somehow created a poly relationship of sorts with the characters in the Nights of Lust series.

Here’s the breakdown (which will go on the Novels in Progress page soon)

Nights of Lust – A small group of unlikely heroes faces an entire Criminal Organization for the fate

of the World while discovering true love.

Endangered - As a rogue cop, Josef Staganov is attempting to bring down The Syndicate, a large crime organization wreaking havoc on San Francisco.  Sensing his imminent death, he swears to take them out and provide just a little more safety to this world until they get him hooked on the dangerous drug LS-13 that’s being pushed on the streets turns him into an addict.

For the last few hundred years, vampire Livia Illona and her lover have sought after the man who can renew her soul, finally settling on his signal in America.  Becoming The Queen of the Night, she ruled over San Francisco until The Syndicate forced her into smaller and smaller territory.  Finding Josef became a blessing in disguise as power combined would help her with her true immediate goal, the reclaiming of her lover’s son.

Can she pull him out of his suicidal phase to show him his true power and convince him to help her recover Isabella’s son, or will The Syndicate win this round and continue spreading their violent ways?

Separated Self – Unable to deal with his new found powers, Josef must venture to Hungary in order to learn from the oldest wolf pack in the world.  Through violence, pack upheaval disrupts the flow of life, bringing a new enemy to the pack and forcing Josef to grow even faster.

In her continued struggle, Kissa finds a hero in Josef and a lover once it’s made clear that his rightful place is Alpha of her pack.  Only she senses the true power in his heart, but his destructive behavior confuses her until a surprise voice helps guide them back to America to resume the fight.

Will Josef learn what it means to be a true hero with love at his side, or will his inability to separate himself from himself be his undoing, and that of the pack’s?

There’s a third book I’m editing now that picks up with Istvan, and his lover.  The plot continues with the theme of eliminating The Syndicate, but the stakes rise (pun intended) as threats grow heavier and each character must learn to deal with not just their own weight but the weight of those around them.

It’s a series of growth and overcoming those dark moments of the soul.  I may try to keep the focus on BDSM used properly.  Hell, to be honest, I intended to usurp the ever talented Laurel K. Hamilton with this series AND end the books where they should but I got sidetracked by other pursuits.  Years ago.
