Character Change and Growth in Erotic Romance

Many of you know I started the Opeth Pack Saga by basing Józsi on Vin Diesel’s character from Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. Richard_B_RiddickThat trend continued for our Alpha as the stories progressed and prophecy began to unfold.  While I’m not looking for depth in the mystery (right yet) I am watching how the characters grow in unexpected ways with each book  As I stated on the Opeth Pack site, Selene has seemed to resemble my writing mentor, sage, smartassed and sassy, and that hasn’t changed from book to book.

Lukina grows stronger in her powerful position as the messenger of the pack.   Most surprising though is Józsi.

Damned if he doesn’t resemble Nucky Thompson from Boardwalk Empire as of late.

An earlier scene from Raining Kisses showcases his original behavior:

“Why do we want this Heaven?” Nicholaus took his cigar from Józsi and puffed on it. He tapped the ash into the tray beside him and strolled out to the balcony.

Ashing his cigar, Józsi followed him. The door closed behind him.

“Look at all the people.” Józsi exhaled and blew smoke into the air.

“Yeah. I know.” Nicholaus looked down at the sidewalk below them. His glance roamed over a couple, a wolf couple that walked past a streetlight toward The Library bar and grille.

For a few minutes they leaned over the railing, scanning, observing, watching the humans and occasional wolf pass by.

“I didn’t want to need Lukina. Or Ilona,” Józsi broke the silence, taking another long puff on his cigar before letting the steady stream of smoke escape into the air.

Nicholaus turned to face him. “Then why did you?”

“I couldn’t stop myself from caring any longer. I had nobody. Living in Houston was fine. But living alone isn’t really living, Nicholaus. I don’t know if we need bother with the idea of Heaven, nor do I give a damn. Right now, we exist on this plane. Know one thing. That woman in there loves you. She loves the wolf, the illusion of man, everything about you. Hell, she even loves the loneliness about you, as it’s something to focus on as a way of giving you a cure for it. So does Krystyna. If they’re anything like Lukina and Ilona…”

Nicholaus looked back through the glass at Katarina and Selene. Both women appeared to be chatting and hugging. It hit him that he needed that type of relationship in order to survive. Right now he was just living, if one could call it that…

“Will Krystyna forgive me for leaving her to Savas?”

“I can’t answer that question. Neither can Selene. Selene knows a lot about this pack, knows things I’ve yet to understand but that’s her duty as pack witch. How she knew any of this is beyond my understanding, but her magic is pretty powerful. The ties she has to all of us have made it difficult for us to move without her knowing, which is good. Ultimately.” He sighed. “She’s sort of a historian. I’m only now learning the hierarchy. But Selene can only hope as much as I can.”

“Fuck.” Nicholaus slumped his shoulders.

“Just be prepared to give henucky-thompson-steve-buscemi-commits-a-shocking-murder-at-the-close-of-the-season-two-finale-ofr your all, Nicholaus.” Józsi turned and leaned against the railing.

The door opened and Katarina stepped outside.

“You’ll catch a cold out here.” Nicholaus smiled weakly at Kristina.

“I’ll leave you two alone.” Józsi took a puff on his cigar and blew smoke out over Central Avenue. Then he walked inside and poured another glass of port for himself and Selene.

Sounds like Typical Józsi yes?

Many of you know I’m ass deep in writing Fall Into Love, the fourth book in the Opeth Pack Saga, and in the next blog post I’ll detail why I think Józsi is looking and acting more like Nucky than Riddick!  I can only speculate the need for diplomacy rather than brute strength as our Alpha has tougher decisions to make nearing the end of this series.

Five #Musical breakdowns I LOVE #writing to!

When I talk of writing to music, it’s not just the lyrics that move me but the actual music itself.  Listening to heavy metal for the last twenty years, I’ve heard the imagesgenre evolve.  My tastes have evolved, having gone from speed and thrash metal to Djent and Progressive death metal, more for the feel of the music.  It makes me feel the scene harder, makes me write deeper, makes me feel like I’m accomplishing something in the world of words I’m creating. This will probably be an odd list for most of you because my tastes aren’t typical.  Those of you who have followed my career already know and understand this.  Honestly I won’t lie, I’m not sure “breakdown” is always the proper term, since I know two of these tracks don’t really have a breakdown, but more a crescendo of sound, to my ears anyway.

1. Immerse by Fellsilent.  Around 1:55 the breakdown begins and we have harmony from a normally screaming band, then at 2:28 the screaming comes back in mixed with the clean vocals, while that simple high hat keeps the time.

2. Messenger, by Textures.  The song is pretty sedate in general, clean vocals, a good groove but what I’d consider the breakdown here, makes for good lyrics in romance, creating angst.  “I’m a messenger, I’m not supposed to be here.”

3. Dagger, by Vildhjarta.  How can this NOT be on this list?  It’s in a few of the top Djent breakdowns for being sick as hell, but it’s also lyrically something I identify with as a writer.  “Not that it would matter more but this must be made clear.  This is not a confession, this is more like a betrayal.”

Devildriver_wallpaper_Flames4. Fate Stepped In by Devildriver.  Yeah, it’s all a fray when Dez kicks in and starts singing, the drums, the guitar work, the image from the video  of them doing this live with the lightening in the background, awesome.  But then, melody, silent melody until the vocals kick in and we’re all wondering what the fuck’s up with vultures.  Great for imagery by the way because my iTunes used to have the tracks from this album out of order so Forgiveness Is a Sixgun is the next track and inspires western/confrontational themes.

5. Born In Winter by Gojira.  Yeah, that’s why the French flag was on a recent blog post LOL!  This song is mostly calm and tranquil words with dark chords and powerful lyrics, but once the power chords start, the song kicks into overdrive.  Slowly though, and I suppose it isn’t really a breakdown, but a point in the song that inspires me to keep pushing, keep writing.

There you have it.  How many of you can relate and with what songs?  Leave a comment below!

Sexy Video Update

Sound Seduction

OceanMusic has been a big dynamic of my writing career, as it’s been the driving force behind the stories I put out.  In almost every single case I can tell you which book and which song inspired most of the scenes because it’s usually just a line from a song that does it.

Something about the metal genre in general evokes images of passion, even though what I listen to involves a lot of dirty vocals.  I thought since we’re pimping a number of releases right now, I’d talk about the five songs that seem to tie into most of what I’m writing.

Kisses Fall–my upcoming Secret Cravings book featured The Ocean, a progressive metal band my brother turned me on to about two months ago.  Their album Pelagial is pretty impressive.

Primary song:  Hadopelagic II.

French FlagL’Enfant Savage, the title track, plus Gift of Guilt by the French metal band Gojira.  Lyrically, musically, they’re heavy and brutal.  Dark, melodic, the music chugs along in true metal fashion, letting me focus on the sounds coming into my ears while my fingers flow fast over furiously fickle phrases to form fornication.  You like that?  LOL!

Eventide, by Stealing Axion is another impressive, seductive song from Progressive Djent metal category that made an impression onto the play list for this book.  Originally, the soundtrack was very heavily influenced by EBM and Aggro-Tek, as I’d just discovered my Goth roots but as time changes everything, so does man change with.

The reality of music and writing for me is that they go hand in hand.  I’ve let the lyrics sooth my tortured soul while I torment those characters in all of my romances and come up with angst ridden emotional arcs to tug at your heart strings.

Cover for Raining KissesRemind me in the future to do a “sexy swinging sounds” post and we’ll talk a little less melancholy!

New Cover for #Bisexual #Adult #Story Collection

Room for One MoreThat’s right, we’ve managed to get an updated cover that shows more romance in the grand scheme of my erotic short story collection featuring menage tales and moresomes.  Room for One More has been updated and a new story added to reflect my growing bisexual desires, plus revisit some old fantasies.

Six A handful of short erotic stories featuring threesomes of various orientations is packed into this collection using choice words designed to arouse, inspire and instigate erotic feeling and action.

I won’t lie, Lashway’s Lease was a personal fantasy of mine.  Originally slated to be in Mistress Anna, the story didn’t make the cut due to word limitations.  But it found a home here and online for a brief time back in the early 2000s on a few sites before resting in this collection as a favorite of many long time readers.

Here’s the first few thousand words to tease you…

Lashway’s Lease

By Sascha Illyvich

Sweat dripped her brow.  She smoothed her skirt over her nylon-clad thighs.  Slender legs led to fuck me pumps underneath a cream-colored business suit tailored to show off her every curve.  She looked one last time in the mirror, tugging her brown curls.  She tucked one behind her ear before walking out of the bathroom and down the hall towards Bruce Callahan’s office.  Her nerves were fluttering butterflies in her stomach, but she had to do this.  She needed a new place to live after next week.

Walking past the blonde secretary popping gum, Lindsey sashayed into Bruce’s office, still amazed that he’d amassed so much wealth in such a short period.  His black leather chair sat against a large ocean view window behind a large lacquer desk.  Two smaller chairs sat in front of his desk.  The walls to her left and right were bare, except for a bookcase that had several file folders scattered about.

“I’d rather be out there,” Bruce turned to face her.

“Wow,” she let out a breath.  His pale skin and hair were gorgeous.  His clean-shaven face was even more handsome, his rugged chin and sea blue eyes, captivating.  Realizing that she was already damp between her thighs, she stepped cautiously forward.  Unsure, she stumbled over the plush carpet, tripping only to catch herself on the back of one of the black chairs.

Her cheeks flushed.

“You okay?”  He leaned over his desk, offering her a hand.

His hand was huge compared to hers.  “Yeah, I’m fine.  Just a little tired.  I was up late studying last night.”  She smoothed her skirt again, fidgeting with the hem before sitting down.

“What can I do for you?”

Looking directly at him, she frowned hard.  “Bruce, not even a hi?  Or a hello short stuff?”

Bruce turned his head away from her.

Settling her hands on her hips, she pushed her shoulders back.  “Do you hate me?”

An eyebrow rose.  “What?”

“It’s a fair question, Bruce.  You’ve avoided my phone calls, put me off, kept me away from your office and made me beg you to get this appointment.  I practically had to cut class just to make it here.”

“I don’t hate you, Lindsey.  You know better.”

“Then what’s the deal?  I thought we were lovers.”

Lindsey put her hand over her mouth as soon as the words left her lips.  “I’m sorry,” She leaned forward, even more heat rising.  She was sure her cheeks were flustered now.

“I like your freckles.” he laughed.

Her lips formed a pout.  “It’s not funny Bruce.”

“You’re right.  It’s not.  And we are lovers.  Always.”

Crossing her legs, she watched Bruce stare open mouthed at her thighs.

His expression changed back to the same solemn face he’d worn when she first came into his office.  “First, I know what you’re trying to do.  It won’t work.  Money and my sex drive are not the same.”

“Here’s to hoping that could change.”  She winked and licked her lips.  Bruce turned a computer monitor towards her.

“See this?”

Leaning farther over the desk, Lindsey nearly had to get out of her seat to see the tiny print on the screen.  “Yeah.  That’s my credit report.”

“That’s the report I pull for every prospective tenant before I even meet with them.”

“Yes.  And that report looks clean.”

“It is. But you have very little credit history.  For God’s sakes honey, you’re barely twenty-two years old.  How much do you make an hour?”

“I’m in college and, wait.  Why am I telling you this?  You gave me that job at the coffee shop.  You know where I work.”  More sweat formed at her brow.  She fanned herself with a hand.

“Exactly.”

He pointed to another figure on the monitor.  “Your credit history isn’t very long.  Running some numbers in another program I use,” he turned to the keyboard.  Another program came into view showing things like income to debt ratio, average risks and other numbers Lindsey wasn’t familiar with.

He smirked.  “You’re too high a risk.”

Her frown deepened.  “Damnit Bruce, you can’t just do me this one favor?”

“Look Lindsey, you know how much I love you, but I can’t predict the future.  What if a tidal wave comes and wipes out the island.  What if you lose this job and can’t find another one, or you do and it’s closer to Houston.  Then what?  I lose my passive income.  Besides, you don’t want to live out here while they’re developing.  Prices are skyrocketing as it is. How are you going to expect to afford to stay here with an average rent increase of five percent a year?”

Lindsey shrugged her shoulders and slumped back in the chair.  Looking at Bruce made her hate her body for betraying her by getting wetter.  She hated her predicament too.  It wasn’t her fault for being born almost eight years after him.

Her nipples tightened into little buds beneath her white blouse.  Her body ached for him to touch her. The pool of liquid at her thighs seemed to be trickling down her leg.

“I’ll give you that date you’ve always wanted.”

Bruce glared at her.

Her lips curled upwards in a smile.  “I’ll get that cute guy to come with us.”

Bruce’s eyes widened.  “You know that I know better.”

“Yeah,” she sighed.  “I guess you’re right.  I’m sorry to have bothered you, Bruce.”

“No trouble, babe.  Bother me any time you want.  Just don’t come looking for a place to rent from me until you’ve got a better paying job.”

Standing, Lindsey ran her hands down her skirt, smoothing it over her sticky thighs.  Walking around the desk, she hugged Bruce, despite feeling upset at him.  His large body enveloped her, making her feel safe, protected and loved.  Beads of sweat slid down her brow.  “It’s hot in here.”

“It’s just you, doll.”  Bruce smiled.

With her body molded to his, she felt how aroused Bruce was. “You’re so tiny,” Bruce pointed out, shifting his weight so that she slid between his powerful thighs.

She glared at him.  “Don’t remind me, you shit.”

Bruce’s arms slipped away from her.  He turned, hiding a smile.  “Get that grin off your face, damnit!”

The truth was, she wanted him.  Bruce was so busy working all the time that he didn’t realize when Lindsey was sending him signals.

How many times had she lay awake at night and finger fucked herself to an unsatisfying orgasm?  How many nights had she spent, covered in sweat thinking about Bruce’s soft touch and hard thighs?

Too many to count.

Sighing heavily, Lindsey spun around, her curly hair whipping around in her face.  Brushing away the lose strands, she parted her lips to speak.

“What?”  Bruce had returned to his chair.

“I’ll give you a call in a day or so, all right?”

“Yes.  Pleas do.”

Turning, Lindsey sashayed out of his office, shaking her hips with each step.  Bruce didn’t seem to notice.

The sun was blinded her when she walked outside.  Lindsey slipped on a pair of shades.  It was too humid outside.  Bruce was right; she didn’t want to live on the island.  Galveston’s weather fluctuated from hot to worse and made her hair curl tighter.  She shouldn’t be sweating profusely after seeing Bruce.  He was hot, all of 6’1 and hard in all the right places.

Of course, it was July in Texas.  That could explain the heat.

Right.

Arriving at her car, she put the key in the ignition and slammed her hands on the steering wheel.  Lindsey adjusted herself and the sticky vinyl creaked beneath her.  Unsatisfied, frustrated and wet as a river between her thighs, she picked up her cell phone.

“Hello?  Yeah, Lane?  Lindsey here.  I need a favor.”

The #book that just won’t die has been reduced in price!

If you buy ten copies maybe it’ll die?  LOL! Seriously, we redid the cover for Mistress Kitty and Trent a little while back but I realized again, the price 545746_447297821947469_213044086_nwas too high.  Not to say it’s not worth what we want, but we just know our readers like deals and when you can get a high quality female dominant series of tales featuring a sexy, yet submissive male, willing to please his Mistress’s every whim, why wouldn’t  you?

If you’ll remember, this is the book that had several cover incarnations, including a missed one because the artist died while trying to catch all the pokemon.  Something about a crazy Soviet was involved too.

Anyway, the stories were written in attempt to give an accurate portrayal of one aspect of the D/s lifestyle.  It can be a beautiful pain, pushing the human body, letting someone else have control, especially when traditional roles are reversed.  Trent, a powerful male in the regular world, and Mistress Kitty, equally powerful in her career, have to come to terms if they’re going to be together.  In a rare look at the Female Dominant perspective, these stories were written in the early days of my career.

Reduced Price on the @USAToday Recomended Read “Torn to Pieces”

You’re probably wondering what the deal with price dropping is by now.  Initially and as a general rule, authors have very little control over the prices set on our books.  Before the days of Amazon making it easier, publishers picked prices they thought made sense based on projected revenue stream, complex formulas and eventually pulling their heads out of their asses to see what stuck while telling authors they could do nothing about the price points because the revenues would be lost, blah blah Torn to Pieces Final 3blah.  Boring shit.

By the way I’m in a foul mood (no sleep)so these last few posts will have the same tongue in cheek feel you’ve come to expect from your humble romance author!

Now, authors know that publishers can change prices to make more sense for the reader and  the house.  It’s no secret authors who self publish on Amazon have total control over what they charge, so why wouldn’t the publishers have it in their best interest to pay attention to the competition?  I’ll do two things:

First, I’ll apologize for the higher prices on some of my books.  I honestly had no idea until I started examining my royalty checks (again, boring blah blah, cash the fucker and move on!) and started talking to Sizzler Editions publisher Jean Marie Stine.  Between her information, talking to fellow author Stella Price, my other houses, I saw the flaw and realized I could remedy this.

Second I’ll sell you a book!  Torn To Pieces is USA Today Recommended Erotic Romance!

“Full of emotion and lust and hot sex.” – that’s how The Forbidden Bookshelf describes the romances of Sascha Illyvich.

Iolite is a witch in love with two wolves, wanting, needing both to fulfill her life. Both of them are two halves of the same being she loves. Jackob and Kerian are former lovers turned enemies by pack law, but without the witch’s solution for the disease ravaging the wolves, both packs will certainly die. Both want Iolite, both want to love again but are uncertain of the consequences. Can Jackob and Kerian get past their emotional baggage to help heal Iolite’s broken heart as well as their own in order to save their packs?

For only $2.99 on Amazon!
